Client: Chico News and Review

Opportunity: A chance to repaint a newsstand for the Chico News and Review, while preserving the original theme of mental health awareness.

Duration: 2 months

Materials: Acrylic outdoor paint

Solution: Beginning with reviewing the original design of the newsstand. Fortunately I had saved my sketches from 2018. From there I drafted various sketches and color samples. The key for this project was to pay tribute to elements from the first project while still bringing a fresh lens to the issue of mental health.

To achieve this I kept the original 4 topics of the first newsstand: Anxiety, Depression, Discussion, and Support.

*Note: As of 2024, the Chico News and Review has transitioned to online publications only. Newsstands including the one I painted, have been taken off the curbs.

Represented by the heavy weight one may feel. The Unchanging monotony of staying in the same place while the world continues to pass by.

“Anxiety”

Persistent worry or fear of everyday situations.

“Support”

Having the love and compassion to listen and support one another.
